Well, sadly we came back without a single YF.... So, needless to say, the reel didnt get stress tested on this trip. It only landed BFT. In fact, there were hardly any of the BF around at all.. We normally catch them non stop. I guess this trip to the floaters was a reminder that "Its fishing"...

Anyone know a spot to pick up a reel? I wanted to get one to try out for a 2.5 day this weekend, but no one seems to carry them locally (5 stores listed on the quantum site as resellers, but none of the 5 even carry quantum reels??) and bass pro doesn't have them. I even ordered one via Amazon because they had 1 left in stock. I got it this morning and although it was being sold as new it was an open boxed that was used and didn't even have a handle!! I don't think I can get one before Friday, but still looking to try one out for the next trip.

the 80 is back ordered at Cabelas, BPS, and Tackle Direct. I did find them at J&H so I will probably pick one up their, but won't get to use it for my trip this weekend. The sad part is the Quantum website list about 12 resellers for CA that don't even sale fishing gear or Quantum at all???longgar said:
I ended up buying one from Amazon and when it arrived is was an open box that had a used reel without a handle!! I called Quantum and they passed me off to the local Cali rep who was practically useless. There is no surprise why Quantum sells very little product now that I've been trying to find a reel for over a week.

You can always compare line capacity & weight specs (but I understand that 'holding 1' is best)

Get the CSP80PTSD (333yards of 65# braid) & 1oz more than the CSP60PTSD - similar to Stella 10KSWB_vandy said:

newbie question , I've got a new 2013 Quantum Boca 80 PT that I'm planning to brake in within this weekend. Would this reel be anything like his big brother the Cabo ? Reel feels very solid & the drags look good , but what do I know !

The older series Bocas & Cabos suffered from AR problems, but were great reels (they just won't hold up to repetitive Jigging lead)

We don't even know enough about the '13 Cabos yet, much less the Bocas- but they share a lot of the same parts & design so...
IMO the price is so close I would get the Cabo...

If you'll read the posts you'll see that everyone was waiting for Alan Hawk & now we're waiting for some hand's on experiences... You can be our Boca field tester...
