Fished Dec. 27,28,29. First day caught a 160 pound tuna, four dorado and lost a marlin. Second day caught a 100 pound tuna. The third day caught two dorado, two sails and a marlin. Jumped off a marlin later in the day. Fished Jan 2,3. First day caught two dorado and lost a big tuna. The boys on the boat got a kick out of the tuna when we were in the middle of a boil and 100-300 pound tuna were all around us. We had thrown live bait and were waiting on the bite. It was a sight to see.

yeah, looks like you were getting beat up out there in that chop. probably had a really LONG 15 mile run to catch those fish too.
Are you fishing dolphin schools or structure of some sort for the tuna?
Nice to see someone with pictures of proper gaff placement. Congrats on the gaffing.

JIGGING TIME !!!
JIGGING TIME !!!

Thats what I was thinking.. We will be down there in less than a month.. I will have a long jig ready if the tuna start going ape sh*t....
Dorado are blind strike, trolling current line or finding a log. Tuna are 99% of the time with the right kind of porpoise.
Gaff em in the upper belly and roll them upside down. They get confused and gives you a second to pull them up. Top gaffing they might get head down and you have big trouble!
