Just had to add that extra "EXTREME" photo in there and then a 5 day stay may just end up being a 10 day stay! haha

John, (owner of Panama Sportfishing Lodge)

Man, that's a bargain. Normally just a room and three meals a day will run you $250-450 a day in Panama and Costa Rica. 6 nights and 5 days of fishing can be costly. I normally figure in a grand a day just for the boat.

I can tell your are a smart business man. After meeting you and listening to you talk on the phone on my ride to David, I noticed you are a "Go Getter". You don't mess around and make quick decisions. I've always said "The wheel that squeaks the loudest, gets greased first". You certainly made sure you were the "squeaky wheel" when talking to that outboard dealer in Panama City. You also did it in a fashion that was very business like, yet very firm.
I like that when dealing with people.

You have a fixed cost per day whether you have customers or not. Why not keep the place busy. You're smart enough to realize the facts. Looks like I might be back sooner than I expected. I enjoyed my stay very much and look forward to visiting again.

I don't think you will see deals like this after the economy picks up.

They run all year round, the biggest Marlin I caught here is in Aug. 850+lbs)
so are Yft's they are running bigger and bigger, the only thing is you get some rain in the afternoon, the fish are not afraid to get wet !!! ,(the good thing is less people fishing) we also have a new species ????:)

I do like to fish. However, watching beauties make bait is a very pleasant experience and one that everyone on earth should experience at least once in their life..:)

As far as Dr Pepper, I now know what it is like to see someone go through Dr. Pepper withdrawerals. I've had numerous alochoic friends and have seen them try to get off the sauce. It isn't a pleasant experience. Wacker got the shakes a few times. He told me numerous times "You know how much I would pay for a Dr Pepper right now".

I had never met Wacker before the trip. I kept asking myself. "I wonder if this guy has deep pockets". If I could some how get him a case of DP, he might reward me by paying for my trip.:)

When we got off the plane, I checked the inventory of the cooler in the van. I asked "how long will it take to get to the lodge". After I got the answer, I concluded the beer inventory looked low to me. I assumed Wacker was a beer head so I asked the driver to stop at a grocery store. When we got inside, he was running all over the store looking for Dr Pepper. He found none. I bought more beer and some Johnny Walker.:)

Mr. Bill, I remember Wacker saying he will pay $100.00 for a can of Dr. Pepper , well if my math serves me right ? if you bring 15 cans of DP and fish with Wacker , you get a nice trip at the lodge ,huh!!!
