Working in the GOM 2023

Misc fish pics while working (about 100' above water, so pics aren't the best). I don't know all my fish species, so I'm guessing. Deepest I've fished so far is 12hr snapper trips.

April 2023 in Garden Banks block.

Bunch of fish near the surface. I'd guess they're about 3' long.

Its crazy to see how many rigs, platforms, well heads, etc. were in the GOM at one time.

Working another platform next few weeks in Mississippi Canyon about 130 miles SE of New Orleans around 4,000 ft deep.

I noticed a lot of sargassum floating around.

NW wind after the front and current seems to be moving square to each other.

More from today. Two boats. Earlier charter had luck, and the boat with the dog showed up before sunset. I didn't see them catch any, but there were flying fish jumping around, birds dive bombing, and some tuna jumping out the water. Evening pictures are kind of crappy.

And some more birds. Not sure if any of the birds are tits. Small birds hitch rides on containers or cargo ships. They either starve to death or get eaten by hawks.

Glad you enjoy them. All the stars aligned for some of the better pictures (lighting, timing, and curious birds staring at me wondering what the hell I'm doing).

Fun seeing fish avoid the baracudda

Saw at least 6 different boats fishing around me. Kid caught a fish damn near the same size as him. This boat had 4 300hp yamahas.

Lots of flying fish and bigger fish (tuna) jumping out the water to smash them. Look at the bottom right in the last few seconds.

Tuna and fish busting the water

catbird. These actual make a meowing noise. Pretty neat.

Lots of jacks swimming around yesterday and today.

Gimpy jack swimming on it's side. I didn't see damage on its left side until I saw this video

Small fish jumping out the water. Not sure if they're showing off, eating, or running from cudas

Shark crusing along. Glad it showed up in the video. I wasn't sure if the camera would catch it or not. Top left corner
