To catch such a monster GT from the shore is an ultimate challenge for any fisherman. The huge ulua was caught in Hawaii where they specialize in catching big GT from the shore.

Yup, Big! one! Someone out there is due to break the 200 lb mark. Whew! Getting home sick and mighty hungry as Ulua fish head soup is excellent stuff...

That is much more of a feat then catching cows out of a boat. I promise that Big ass Jack looking thing fights like a Tomahawk cruise missle.

Yeah, then add jagged lava rock to cut your line. This sport is for true bad-asses.

Don't know much about GT's, but is the tail that small on a fish that size? Maybe just an optical illusion?

    Kil,

I heard the GT weighed 100 lbs caught off the shore in Tonga, not Hawaii.
The angler is Mr Fukui who is Japan Shimaon product tester.

I don't think it was a pure luck.

I was wrong. It is not Hawaii, but Tonga.

that fish is definitely at an angle and the guy is sitting on the rock, but still a very big GT nonetheless. and still an accomplishment

catching Gts(ulua) from the rocks in hawaii is a fairly normal occurence. they use whole octopus for bait. heres a cool link for the 100 lb club in hawaii. click on the persons name to see their catch. all off the beach or rocks. shimano ulua rods have a metal sleeve on the butt section just for placing them in the rocks for rod holders.
