As someone who lives in the Occupied Territories, once know as the Great State of California, I can assure you if a Kalifornia Revenuer did that the lure would be missing a hook and the angler would only be holding up nothing but lips.

I might add the remaining hook would of had it's barb ground down.

I don't know where this picture was taken, took it off the internet, but whatever did that was huge.

Kinda make you think twice if the Captain offered a swim day...

Guessing from your comments,
you are NOT an accountant by trade
or earn your living in the financial markets.

FYI - The occupied territories of kalifornia,
based on state, city, county, sales, real estate taxes,
Is the 11th LEAST taxed state in the US,
when taxes are compared to relative income for average Joe.
Even lower than my favorite gulf state, Alabama which comes in at 15.

Least taxed relative to avg income is
Alaska, Delaware, Montana.

Middle of the road, avg for the US is
Virginia, Massachusetts, South Dakota

Most expensive
Connecticut, New York, Pennsyltucky, Illinois.

Your misguided viewpoint comes from listening
to multimillionaires and billionaires complaining about taxes,
and mistakenly thinking it applies to you as well as avg Joe.

As for my brothers in the bayou,
Louisiana comes in at #23, right in the middle area.

Those open carry gun toting freedom fighters
from the badlands of Texas,
land of free, home of the over taxed,
come in at #40,
basically in the top 10 most relatively taxed.

#texas freedom

Our sunburned brothers,
in the covid state of Florida,
come in at #6
Dang, now you know why all the scammers
and crooks end up down there.

So much to learn................

I'm not an accountant, I do hire them though.

This post wasn't meant to be political.

I love California, but it's not the same California I grew up in and I'm too old to change my ways.

Land of Ronald Reagan and all.

My Dad use to say if you lost a fish to a shark or a seal "You We're Paying The Tax Man".

Nothing political about
explaining taxes,
unless you happen to see it in that light.

I guess sharks are just as bad on the west coast as the beast coast, we have a lot of trouble getting quality fish past the tax man.

PS> the great one Reagan, while gov of cali,
raised sales tax 20% and personal income tax was higher
then today.
While prez, he cut taxes,
which lasted all of one year,
following year, congress raised taxes,
with his signature on the bill.
And went on to raise taxes over the next 5 years,
higher than what they were before Regan cut them,
mostly under his watch.
Why, because tax cut put a huge hole in the budget,
and the spending cuts they planned to pay for it,
never happened, they ended up spending more,
and had to raise taxes to pay for it all.
Sound familiar?
True greatness for sure,
mixed in with some trickle down economics con/bullshit as a bonus.

Back in the old days,
the version of this,
was labeling an ice covered island, Greenland,
to attract the suckers,
while the habitable island they named Iceland.
