What would you spool with

    What would you spool a stella 8000 with for gulf of mexico yellowfin on poppers?

    Because of the limited line capacity I would go with 50# or 60# Jerry Brown solid. Any higher and it limits you severely in capacity.

    55lb daiwa boat braid. should get about 300 yards or just shy. on a private boat in the gulf you should be fine with that. i dont think fish can breathe as well with a mouth full of popper so that helps too!!
     
  4. I like 50lbs TUF line hi-vis and then a 20' of flouro to the leader of choice.

    OTI 60lb or varivas 10x10 pe5/6

    as a side note, you dont need color coded line for popping, but you can jig with this reel too so for not a whole lot more $$ i like using it. you can also put 100yds of coded line on top if you prefer.

    does the depth finder line cast any different than regular braid? I wouldn't think it would just never messed with it before.

    can you get the OTI depth finder line in a continuous 300 yard spool, or do you have to splice the 100 yard sections together?
