What is it doing [ sail fish ]

    Maybe the sun and dry air will kill parasites just a thought.

    Just a guess...

    Evaporating water will cool your skin. That's why humans sweat. Maybe that's why sailfish behave like that - their sails are wet and they're cooled as the water on their sails evaporates in the air.
