That is a nice buck. I have a small place a little bit north of there in south Lavaca County. We have some big bucks--body wise, and I think, pretty good genes, but there is some kind of mineral deficiency--zinc, I have been told--that causes the horns to kind of droop down in front and not have any depth. I have seen so many racks that looked that way. But down toward the Victoria prairie and over toward Sheridan, it seems to get better.

I did not get this one, Another member did and sent me the photo to make me feel better about of being out of town. :)
Our place is a little less than 5k.ac. around Nursery with about 1/2 of it creek bottom land. So its a good combo for Deer, Hogs and birds. Our Deer harvest
averages is 4-5 bucks a year and the same for MLDP does. Our group of hunters (I've been on this lease 12 yrs) are willing to wait for more mature animals.

lately Statons Groc in Alvin has
gotten my sausage bussiness. Good mix and vacumed packed.
.
I should get a good 2 weeks with my youngest out there in late DEC.

One more from the orange hat crew.

And the walking buck.
The deal in Alberta is no baiting.
So this land owner like others will put
out round bales after the season to help
the game get through the winter.
these photos are a few days after this season
in his back yard on a 1/4 section peice of property.

they are already making hunting plans for next year down at the local
coffee shop.
