Are you the original owner b/c why are you being charged for the clean/service? Their 5 year warranty and their 5 year clean/service plan have different exclusions. If you are the original owner, you'd qualify for the clean/service which does not exclude wear and tear-just inaequate care. So unless they're claiming you didn't send your reel in for years or had salt intrusion and didn't send it in soon enough I don't see how they're trying to charge you for parts. This is kind of bull shit b/c they're telling shops this is their response to their history of shitty repair service and Shimano's Platinum Serivce.

Well, I was kind of eyeing another Saltiga but your post got me a little worried so last Wednesday I packed up my reel and sent it into Daiwa. It was received by them Saturday (service is open Mon-Fri). I didn't hear anything so I called Tuesday afternoon-to their credit, an actual person in service picked right up and said that their turn around is same to next day BUT not until your reel is checked in which can take 3-5 days. I thought that was some bull shit but they called again Wednesday, said the reel was checked in, service was completed the same day and sent back to me Fedex 2-day. Just recieved the reel today (Friday) so all in all it was less than 9 full days for turn around and I wasn't charged. I did call out something to be looked at and wasn't charged for that either. Reel had some grease on it from greasy hands but otherwise seems like new.
