Untrustworthy Canvas & Upholstrey Shop in La Porte

I just wanted to give you guys heads up on some "not so trustworthy" upholstrey shop owner in the La Porte area. I recently started a nonprofit business that takes handicapped and underpriveledged kids fishing. I purchased an older boat that I fixed up to carry out this organization. After finishing the bulk of the repairs, I was approached by a guy named John at Performance Upholstrey (located at Spencer highway/146) that requested to do the work.

To make a long story short, after putting a substantial amount of money down for materials, the boat sat in the drive way for 4 weeks without being touched. After finding out that several jobs had been finished in a matter of days before mine, I immediately pulled the boat to Freeport, where it was completed in 4 days by Kristy and Homer Carter (which I add were first class people and did a great job...pictures to follow).

Not only did I lose several weeks in the deal, but the owner of the shop (John) has expressed that he will not re-imburse the money becuase "work is slow right now" and several other "personal problems" that he stated in his dispute.

The purpose of this thread is not to soil anyone, but to prevent someone else from making the same mistake I did. Make sure you guys are of aware of this outfit and avoid having the wrong people work on your boat, especially when there are people out there who can do an outstanding job and carry themselves in a professional manner (ie. Fiberglass TAC, Tops N Towers, Miller Machine & Welding, etc etc). The winter is normally a time when guys do a lot of repairs and upgrades.....do the research on who is doing your work and the truth is still the same, you often get what you pay for.

Tight Lines.....Merry Christmas and Happy New Years.
