Here's my setup. Cabo 120, XH tiger lite jigging rod, 80 pound braid, FG to 100 pound mono leader. Butterfly jig.
Decent setup but what's up with the butts?
And lose the cheesy brass swivel what are you fishing for ?
That's a lot of rod for a small jig to me .. for 160 I don't even use my Cabo 80 .. I think you could get by with a smaller Cabo judging by your jig and thus have a lighter combo . The rig is much stronger than that swivel I might add
i started with an ugly stick...
too fast action for me, had to move on
that's actually all I had after loosing alot of tackle to a big wave. I normally am running barrel swivels. I know to tie right to the solid ring but since we were switching back and forth from jigging to chunk bait I left it on. We typically fish for tuna and mahi mahi
From a few years ago. Baby bluefin on a Penn Torque 5 and Ugly Stick Tiger
Ha, pretty cool .
I have the conventional version. Hell of a lot of rod for the $50-60 you can sometimes find them for.
My god, tuna that size are FUN, aren't they?
ugh! utter blasphemy! what is happening?! is it still april fools day?
Ha, hey, everyone has to do a little slumming now and then.
I've been using custom built uglysticks (GBU96- trimmed tip and butt) for over 2 decades
and still do so today.
When I travel internationally, one of the uglysticks always comes along.
Have broken two so far.
Hopefully we get a run of these the smaller guys this year
For the price though, they are worth every penny.
