The HG has a retrieval ratio of 5.6:1 versus PG 4.9:1.
Besides this I see no difference.
The reel will be used primarily for jigging (looking for a light fspool that will handle the occasional jig to 250/280 gr in 250 ft of water but generally lighter jigs and shallower water)
SPJ and Speed jigging and sometimes throw onto a popping rod.

Question: Any reason to go one over the other or does it make no real difference at all?

Gears in the PG model may hold up better over time.

And if it wasn’t already implied, the PG will be easier to crank on. The trade off is the slower retrieve rate (less line retrieved per handle turn).
