Jerry, that was incredible! My adrenaline is pumping hard right now.
My 92 year-old grandfather still tells me stories of fishing in the racks
for albacore & bluefin out of Santa Monica in the 30's & 40's.
Back when you could still catch bluefin @ Catalina, & albacore
as close as horseshoe.
Wish it was still that easy.

DeepBlueGulf and I had the pleasure of watching Capt. Norm pole fish yellowfin on the Shogun off of Guadalupe a few years back...he made it look so easy, like in the video there.

Meanwhile (now) Capt. Bruce would hook up a big yellowfin on a monster (8 foot at least) limbre rod with a Newell single speed and hand it off, that was actually my first yellowfin - and it wasn't so easy :)
