Well my summer fishing season is almost over because I'm moving to take a new position within the company I work for. It has been a good summer! Most of our trips are fishing for mangroves and then misc fish after that is over.Mangroves fishing is my favorite. Over the last 6-7 years we honed a nice technique to catch em'. Now that we started jigging the action is non-stop! We fish for mangroves until our live bait runs out (which is really really quick once on a good bite). Then we jig for our limit's of red snapper and other fish. It's been fun fishing! Here's a few pictures of recent trips: Me with a jigged up red my younger brother, cody, with a mangrove me with another nice jigged up snapper (yep that's a jig that cost $4 on ebay) dad with a nice lemon me with a mangrove some of a days catch my dad with a mangrove jack caught on a jig (I just about fell out of the boat in this pic....it was rough that day) my godchild, brody, with a spanish.....that's all that boy wants to catch. every time I ask him if he wants to go fish his reply is always "can we go catch some spanish mackeral?" brody with a red he caught bud jay with a blackfin caught while grouper fishing http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/fishing4-20-08014.jpg jay and I with a nice gag http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/fishing4-20-08019.jpg me with a mangrove http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0394.jpg dad with a tank! http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0398.jpg dad with his catch of 2 red snapper on one hook!!!! http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0400.jpg me with a fatty http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0404.jpg cody with a nice one http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/CodysMangrove.jpg jay with a nice mangrove http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/Jaywithmangrove.jpg brody with more spanish http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/pics055.jpg bullred and brody http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/pics013.jpg dad with a big ole white trout http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0238.jpg cody with a little jigged up AJ http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0251.jpg dad with a nice snap http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0267.jpg me with a lemon http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0273.jpg nice triple http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/FishingTrip8-18-07019Medium.jpg dang kings http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/FishingTrip8-18-07013Medium.jpg dad with a big ole drum caught while making bait http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0989Medium.jpg table full http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/Picture053.jpg nice chest! http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/Picture050.jpg dad with a nice one http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/Picture044.jpg ride out (that's my brother's boat) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/Picture035.jpg me with a big one on light tackel (that wasn't eady!) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0890Medium.jpg sweet! http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0888Medium.jpg another drum while making bait http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o166/gmack7277/IMG_0851Medium.jpg Well sorry for so many pictures, but as I said the fishing has been good!!!!! wow...I'm amazed at how big the Mangroves get in the Gulf. I could spend all day pulling on those things. Love catching them....love eating them!
Why is it a Ling and not a Cobia? I have always heard them called lemons or lemon fish in the Fla panhandle area... They tend to be Cobes when you get to Ala... They are called shark the first time many people see them swimming. LOL Nice pictures there gmack. Thanks for sharing. I hope that the new responsibilities do not keep you from fishing too mych.
