I am planning on setting up a Jigstar Ninja 450g gram with a Spheros 20K but am now wondering if it's just not going to work seeing as how the Spheros is a parallel foot design and it will be about 12-13 inches from the first guide.

Not a problem, I fish the 450 with a Stella 20K and it works great. One thing you will discover is that a lot of drag on a short rod will let you know if you need to work out more in a hurry.

I was just looking over my notes from Chris of Jigstar, he designed these for Shimano 20K's when under load. Hopefully that'll work out for me.

If you’re fishing a 450g rod I’d assume you’re chasing bigger fish. I wouldn’t go less than 80 lb braid (I use DBB 80 on my spinners).

Possibly but mainly to use heavier jigs.

The 450 was made for heavy jigs, there is a difference working jigs with a short heavy duty rod than it is with a 6 foot + rod. You will be right at home with a 600gr jig.
