I'm also an avid fan of light tackle surf fishing. My lure of choice is the Kastmaster. Even on windy days like a bullet you can cast the KM at long distances. I use the Berkley IM7 Salmon/Steelhead rod and the W&M Sabalos and Daiwa Sol spinning reels which I spool with fluorocarbon line in the 6 to 12lb rating. It's so much fun and challenging fighting the Yellowfin Croaker on light tackle in the surf. On days when you're a bit lazy to take the boat out and clean it afterwards; it's much easier just to grab you surffishing rod and your tackle pouch and go surf fishing to satisfy the itch! Here are some pics of croakers and other fish you can catch in the surf. Fish on!
