What is the correct pressure I set my drag at if using 80lb Daiwa Boat braid. I have it fully spooled on a Saragosa 18000. Should it by 25% of 80?

Any info appreciated.

Vinnie are you targeting tuna? If so I would set it around 17 pounds you can always ramp up from there.

Based on my testing of 55# and 70#, and unless you check the line yourself, assume that its actual breaking strength is 75 lbs. If you tie an ordinary knot, based on the 75 lb. assumption it will break at 45 lbs. Peak drag, when your reel. 15 to 16 lbs. would be the top initial drag that I'd recommend.

If you tie a Bimini, SIG or P.R. knot you could go to 18 lbs. initial drag and be safe. But that would be a lot for the reel.

Vinnie. I would start with about 15-17 pounds for jersey stuff. I use Diawa boat braid and found it holds up great. Great avatar BTW from Cabo?

BTW when are we getting a drink to catch up?

Thanks Glenn. Let me know. I'll PM you my cell. I'm in Secaucus.

Yeah, that's Cabo. Hooked up with a striped marlin. 2008 was amazing there!
