Hey,

I gotta fish but I gotta work at the same time! I need decent internet connectivity and hopefully text and calls (through my regular number).

Is there a solution? Most of the phones seem to require texting through a different number and with somewhat terrible internet. Positive feedback is appreciated. I wanna get bent while I get paid.

I think it can be done with the KVH V7. You’d have to call KVH, but I think it’s an option. You will be looking at a hefty monthly bill, depending on the data package, on top of the $20K to get the dome.

Looking at $5,000 - 6,000+ a month service plan,
to accomplish what you want,
plus $15-20k in setup costs.

There is also a V3 model if you have a smaller boat
and lack the space for the V7 model.

These units work well,
we have one installed on a boat we use in the tropics
in very remote areas. No issues with access so far,
and has been a lifesaver with access to satellite weather reports. Although it is very expensive to have onboard.

If "offshore" to you is in the 20-40/50 mile range,
you can purchase a cell signal booster from KVH
for around $1,500 and get what you want inexpensively.

I’m not sure what level of connectivity you need, but if it’s just texting, the Garmin InReach might work. I think only ~300 hundred for the device plus a monthly service fee. Mine is one of the lowest plans at 35/month
