Is there a power handle available for the Shimano Saragosa 18000?

Broke mine in over the weekend on some blackfin and a nice 60 lb yellowfin. The reel and drag upgrade performed great, but the handle (similar to the Stella I was told) was a little hard on my hand. I was wondering if anyone had installed a T-bar type grip (or other style power grip).

Any pros or cons would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Tom

You should be able to contact Shimano and get the Stella 20000FA T-bar handle that fits the Saragosa 18000:

I got two power T-bar handle for my Spheros and Saragosa 18000. These Stella 2000FA duplicate handles can be ordered thru Bluewater Tackle. Paid $119 for each.

You only need the grip from shimano. It was 45 bucks when I bought it.

    Thanks for the input.

If I only got the grips, do I have to machine out the old ones? If so, and with out the tools, I would probably need the whole handle.

MadMarlin, What are you upgrading to and why?

    Kil,

Thanks for the pics. That handle design is what I had envisioned. Just couldn't find them here locally in Houston.

You guys are awesome, I have learned so much from the postings on this website. My learning curve for jigging and popping was shortened tremendously by researching your posts. One of these days I'll make it to the east coast and play with the big boys, but I still have a lot of practical training to do here.

    Best Regards,

    Tom

As far as the exchange, you only have to take out the two screws that are only the shimano logo plate on the end of the grip and one flat head "nut" that actually holds it on. Take the bearings out of the stock saragosa handle and put them in the new handle and put it back on. It could be done by a 10 year old in 2 minutes.

Before you guys throw out your old Saragosa handles, ship them to me. I think they feel fine and I can use them to upgrade a Spheros handle.

    Those look sweet.

I also like the wrap on the spools. Where do you find those? Thinking about buying some extra 18000 spools, filled just in case, ;)

Just go fishing with your buddies. The spool wraps are the one thing that I'm always misplacing or having several extras after each fishing trip.

    Rubber bands are cheaper btw.

ok, finally done! the new kolekar spinning reel grip (right) has a 0.375 inch diameter spindle instead the 0.5 inch spindle found on the 2/0 (left), the 4/0 and the 6/0 kolekar grips. that way you can bolt this spinning reel grip onto a skinnier handle arm.

the older 2/0 kolekar grip (left) is 3.25 inches tall and 1.25 inches in diameter. the 4/0 kolekar grip (center) is 3.75 inches tall and 1.25 inches in diameter. the new spinner (right) is 3.5 inches tall and 1 inch in diameter.
