Its full tilt nutso, limits of 30/40 lbers by 8 am and then comes the kites... flyers and the fatties... All the fish are so fat, the bellies on even the little 40 lbers are 2 inches thick... yes even the 40 lbers have alot of fat in them... usually the little 30/40's have really pretty bright red meat from the crab diet but lack the sticky sweet fat content of the big ones... Not this year!!! Even the little ones up to 50 lbs are loaded with fat in the meat... EPIC... YUM.... Must see to believe... the 1.5 day trips are packed daily and limits of tuna and dorado/mahi are the norm...

Jeff on the Thunderchicken has been slaying them..

I can help you out with gear and reservations if you wanna fly out...

YF are all 20 to 30 lbers... not the biggies. Was told last night they are marking at 20 to 40 fathoms for entire 20 miles from San Clemente to Tanner and Cortez bank. The food is so thick for them. Last week I was casting bait into bait balls to get bit... This is a good thing, the boat pressure will back off and once again we can go fly a kite... I post how tonights trip goes

I just can't beleive there's bluefin in the catalina channel again.
that is so awesome!!! My grandpa used to jackpole 'em out there
before WW II. then they disappeared. until just the past few years.
i know there are a lot of different factors for this happening, but
the fact that it IS happening is just awesome.

it pisses the global warming freaks out... but Catalina tuna club records show the current water temps match the early 1930's... exactly the same... same temps current speeds... reverse el nina and same size fish are being caught as in the 30's... God Bless Global Warming.....

    No really, Garriga?

    ------

1930's had unusually high water temps
2018 broke water temp records that were over 100 years old
La Nina reduces rainfall, which increases wildfires,
bring on the global warming brings on the fires,
maybe the big earthquake will come and drop Cali into the ocean
to put out the flames :)

I saw a bluefin breech when I was shore fishing this year, I thought it was Mink Whale, and then it breeched again as if it knew I was questioning it. Crazy times.
