Hey Bret,

I won't be fishing but I try to take in the festivities. What boat are you on so i can keep an eye out for you and give a big hoot and a holler when you weigh your fish in?

I hope the blue water moves in for you guys too.

Watch for me, I'll be wearing shorts, a T-shirt, flip-flops and a ball cap. Oh yeah, I'll have a beer in my hand.....:D

Sea Weed is not bad right now. I went down very late Friday night but had to leave by 9am Saturday. I returned at 7pm Saturday night. Lot of driving this weekend. I had dinner with a good friend. He took me to a great new place. "Upper Deck". It is on the second floor about "Trout Street". Best Crab Cakes and Seared YF I have even tasted.

It might have been the seven Grey Goose Martini's I consumed, but food is excellent if you are look for a nice place with a great view. I had a good enough buzz to be talked into a night time boat ride. I want to thank my friend for the great conversations and the full throttle adventure into a fairly nasty chop. Busting the jetties at 35 knots in the dark and running to Aransas Bank and turning around was very satisfing.

I needed that real bad. We never even thought about wetting a line. Just drinking and BSing was all I needed for a saltwater fix. It was a wild ride with a couple of good friends. It was hard to see the seaweed, but it wasn't very bad. They had fished that day and said it was no problem trolling for the first time this year. Good luck at the Round-Up.

The kind that floats. :D :D :D :D :D LOL

I wasn't on mine. I was on one that I will never be able to afford. I haven't had to time to do any maintenance. I know I have a full tank of fuel that is probably no good.

Bret,
What days do you guys fish for the round-up?

I do have to come down this week. I just don't know when at this time. I've got a deal in the works and it depends on it. Whenever it is, it will be a day trip for me. I don't have time to spend the night this time. Otherwise, I'd try to hook up with you guys.

I know some guys that were going out fishing today. I'll try to get some info out of them tonight. They didn't fair very well Saturday. I believe that only caught 1 hoo and 3 dolphin. Lots of scattered thunderstorms and that full moon didn't help. I did enjoy the full moon race to Aransas Bank Sat night. That was fun. I alos talked to a guy that when fishing inshore. He did horrible. One lousy kingfish in 8 hours.

Thanks, I would appreciate some current offshore info...

I think the seas will be 4ft on fri.. down to 2-3 on sat.. with lots of freaking rain showers.. I dont think that this Low will ever move away from Texas.....
I've had over 10inches of rain in the past 30 days at my house .. and it rained another inch today....

I think you're right. I had 5½" this morning at my house which pushed me over 8" in the last ten days or so. I've never seen anything so stubborn.

I haven't forgotten. I called late last night and talked to one of the wives. They decided to spend the night offshore. That's all I know at this time. Their report probably won't help you anyway as I imagine they are in very deep water far offshore.

Well, we will do the falcon/ dutra swing on saturday.. as the seas look to be around 2-3... I just wish that the cloudcover would subside enough to get some sort of thermal image of the gulf.. I havent been able to see shizzle.... I can extrapolate from the loop images that the blue water has moved a bit farther offshore of breaks/falcon/dutra.. I was hoping that it would have come back in a bit....

My friends returned but all he wanted to talk about was the storms and getting some sleep. They were in stormy weather the last 10 hours. It must have been pretty bad out there as he sounded mentally drained. The good news is that the blue water isn't as far out as you think. I heard it was blue around Baker last weekend. When I asked if they caught any fish I got a sarcastic remark (What the BLANK do you think) and decided not to pursue with questions.

I also can't get a clear shot of the gulf. It's been a mess the last week. Here's a sea temp picture from a few hours ago. There seems to be a 3 degree difference around Baker. The weeds should be formed up by the time you go fishing. It's evidently very nasty right now.
