Well, if it isn't the world's second best fisherman. Those strays you picked up at the jetties were sure green. I'm picking next time. Yes, I found the big footballs about 20 miles inshore of where we saw all the lumber floating. 4 on at once. Blood flowing crazy. We were to deep. Also got three bills to the boat.

Popped another 50# rod. Thought it was a mako, but turned out we snagged a manta ray with a rattle yap. I strapped up and put the wood to it. Pop.

Hoo mania at the weather bouy. John III jigged up a monster. We had to cut it in half to get it the overstuffed box. Two halfs went 105# nine hours after being boated. Miracle, No wire, fluoro and kev on hooks. I think we picked up 9 in about one hour. You shouldn't have left your jig bags on the boat. We lost about two dozen of them to hoos at the bouy. Hope your jig inventory is still strong because I only have about 25 left. I lost about 8 lures to hoosters.

I still got the fishing fever real bad. John III and Sal are pumped. I'll call you tonight. Let's bend some rods this weekend.

Who's second best? We should have entered that FLW kingfish tourn. Look at the weights of these kingsters. Those 3 or 4 smokers we set free at eastern were at least 45 pounders. Winner won 12 Grand. Bet they didn't catch a single one jigging. What are you going to do with all your shrimp? My freezers are full.

Here's the link to the go-fast king fish tourn.

I stayed up till midnight packaging the shrimp. NO MORE SHRIMP TRADING!!!!!
We looked like a beer truck out there. If we had entered that tournament, we wouldn't have caught those smokers. We weren't even fishing for them. I have to admit, you and that monster 700 gram jig were hot on the rocks. If I didn't see it, I would have not believed you hooked that big dolphin on the bottom. That's rare.

Hey Rodbuster aka Gunsmoke,

You've a reputation to up hold and you can't break any rods trading for shrimp.....

We almost broke one loading all that beer. One of cases got away from him as I was tossing them to him. He opened his big mouth this spring and promised somebody 350 pounds of shrimp for a wedding reception. So he's been obsessed about his shrimp trading this summer.

The case hit one his prized cape fear rods that was parked in a gunnel rod holder. Luckly it hit right above the reel. He loves those cape fear rods and they are getting very hard to find as cape fear is shutting down.

Speaking of rods, I'm the one paying for the custom spinner you are making for him. I'm the one that sent you the deposit check. I trade him rods and reels for boat fuel and hunting trips. I also bought him that tuna max he shattered lifting sash weights. He told me you might be able to upgrade the standard blank to a super seeker. From what I understand those are unbreakable.

If possible, could you duplicate that order and have them ready by the third week in Oct. I've got my first head boat trip in many years planned for the last week of Oct. I'd like to have two onboard in case I bust one of them. If I break one of them I'll give Rodbuster the broken one to mount on his wall of shame where he hangs the snapped ones. If you can build two in time, I'll send you another down payment. Make them exactly the same as he ordered it. Email me at ([email protected]) or PM me.

Bayfishingsucks,
Now don't go telling stories about me. I'm a pretty good catcher. That was a bad pitch by you. Can't wait to read stories about you and Drshark on that cattle boat together in Oct. I've never met any Internet fisherman, and I know you haven't either. I know you all to well and God help all other passengers.

From what post I've read the past year, you to guys shouldn't be allowed on a boat together. You guys will probably bond and cause a mutiny on the Big E. Everybody will want to jump overboard from hearing all the Bull**** you two dish out.

By the way, did you buy that last limited edition red/black twinspin from charkbait? It's now showing (out of stock). Hope it's for me. Keep buying me rods, I need all I can get.

Mrbill,

I am switching the blank from the Black Steel to Super Seeker line, however, the model requested is not scheduled to start rolling off the line until the end of the month. These new blanks are suppose to be the cat's meow but I don't think any blank is unbreakable -- especially when someone straps them to a forklift :). PM me your phone number and a time and I'll give you a call tomorrow.

Txseadog,
Just sent you a PM.

Smoker,
Enjoyed dinner tonight. That was a great place. My steak was perfect. I think I answered your above questions. Boy, those fishing widows were sure blabbering tonight. It's going to feel funny not floating on water this weekend. Come over about 5 on Sat and I'll open a bottle of blue label so we can put on our game face before heading downtown. It supposed to be a sellout.

This morning I found an old Sport Fishing Magazine in my basket next to the crapper. (March 2006) On page 54 is an article by Andy Hahn titled "Graphite or Glass?" It's a must read for rodbuster. Very good info about the construction of rod blanks. I am guilty of high sticking like 90% of the other stand up fisherman. Very good info about rod construction. It explains why rods break.
