Anyone ever see this in person? Is it decent quality. Looks like a good idea for overhead rod storage. Thinking of trying one out. https://player.vimeo.com/video/115064596#jmui=f:1244:305419896:[email protected]%p Benny
Yeah video looks good, but when I check specs at places selling them I'm leery. Anything that weighs 45lb assembled and hangs from your ceiling, but only rated to hold 50lb........something not designed correct somewhere.
So you’re reading it the same way? I thought it said 50# max weight, so that’s good I thought. But as I read it over the rack weighs 50#. Also $200 to hold 6 rods with reels. I’d go broke storing my rods on the ceiling. Benny
Yes a wire closet rack is rated at 40lb .........something is lacking in their design or fasteners. Does look like a good way to break a couple thousand in slow pitch rods in one accident though.
HaHa! You’re right!!! I’m thinking maybe it’s 50# max before piston lowers rack? One lag holds ¼ lag holds more than 50# Benny
This could be a good starting point in a DIY Storage system. I've got one of the larger ones holding 100# plus. https://hoisterdirect.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=105
Looks like a great idea I can easily build something to lay rods and reels on to hoist up. How long is the cord that you pull to hoist and how wide can the platform be to be hoisted. Benny
I just ordered one! I’ll give this one a try, then I’ll order another’s if they work for me. I’m hoping to built a platform and get about 20 combos. Benny
Sorry...had gone fishing. Without measuring, min. 50' dynema probably more . Mine is loaded with ladders, shrimping poles, Spare tires for trailer, and heavy duty hitch mount cargo carrier. It should handle anything you can come up with.
