I believe you are referencing to the conventional and spinning setups. OTI makes both for popping and jigging.
If you are familer with a "trigger" seat on the conventional style reel seats then intend not to look for them on all OTI rods as they do not use those style seats for conventional setups.
I believe it is to save on weight and personal preference.
I'm not sure what OTI uses for all their rods, but I know for spinning reel seat styles (no trigger or palm support) I like to have the threads up locking. It is more comfortable for me and seems to slip less. Conventional with a spinning style seat I like them down locking for the same reasons, but not as critical to me.
