for those who live in Texas make your voice heard. i don't even fish for RS anymore but this is crazy. please send in your comment. This could shorten the season it to 11 days!!!!!! The online public comment period is 10:00 a.m. February 19, 2013, through 05:00 p.m. February 25, 2013 so lets make a statement.(do what we can as there will not be public comment allowed at the meeting)

Red Snapper Season
On February 8, 2013, the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council voted to recommend an emergency rule that could shorten the recreational red snapper fishing season in federal waters off the Texas coast. As recommended, the rule would give authority to the National Marine Fisheries Service southeast regional administrator to shorten the red snapper season in the federal Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters off Texas. The EEZ begins nine nautical miles from the coast and extends to 200 nautical miles. State waters extend from the coast outward nine nautical miles.
