Need to order some line for my new OJ4000P/JM500gram setup. It will be used to jig/live bait for AJ's and grouper at the rigs off Louisiana. I'm going with Daiwa boat braid. Can get the PE8 in 300 yard spool for $50. The PE10 and PE12 come in 500 yard spools for about $90. What should I go for? For a ligther combo I'm building a custom rod on a 400gram prototype blank that TJ sent me. I'll more than likely put a Saltiga 30T on it. It will be spooled with PE6 or 8.

Diawa PE8 is 100 pound and is moe than enough that's what I caught that 120-130 amberjack on besides anything heavier will affect how long it takes to get down

I have PE 6 Boat Braid on my 30T. Awesome little reel, but won't reach the bottom in 800ft, but fine for 350' or less. Best suited for 120' and fish under 60lbs. Its still my favorite that I use more than anything.

I have a trinidad 40 that I believe is similiar in size to your OJ. I bought a 300yd spool of Daiwa's 70lb braid, anyway I had to wind it back on to the daiwa spool that it came with. I barely filled the reel half way. I decided to go with 65lb suffix, thats all they had in bulk spools and we were able to squeeze on nearly 550 yds of 65lb. (i needn't use any backing) just to give you an idea on what that reel holds.

Thats good info. JB will sell you only exactly what you need, so with this you can place an exact order.

if you're dropping to the bottom and just jigging back up or jigging the bottom...color-coded line really doesn't add any value.

Trinidad 40 is the size of the ocea jigger 5000P. 4000P will hold probably 350yards of 80lb braid. Go with the 100lb daiwa boat braid or 80lbtuflin xp
