im trying to decide whether to use OTI PE8 or Daiwa PE6 for my Saltiga 40. the reel is on an OTI 600gr jigging rod. it already has PE8 on it, but my other jigging reel (saltiga 20) has daiwa PE4 and i would like to have the same metering on both. for those of you who like daiwa boat braid, are you using the PE6(80) or PE8(100). thanks
if daiwa i would put pe8, its thinner than normal braid you should be able to get 300 yards of pe 8 on it
"pe8, its thinner than normal braid" How does the strengh compare normal braid? I have some Diawa boat braid, PE5 70 lb, and it is breaking below 50#.
Palomar knots to split rings on both ends. Break is in the line. Testing with an IFGA certified scale (expired).
I have a Saltiga 40 and 30T I have yet to spool with a metered line. Sugesstions for the 30T? The rods have not been decided on yet but will be conventional jigging Matched to the reels. K2
I have found that many braids will break in the middle of the line at much less than rated strength when dry. Wet it, then try it again. I had 50# PPro break at 24# dry, over 50# wet. Same with Sufix 80# braid, breaks around 40# dry. Wet it and it holds better.
