the other day chicho was fishing the back side of coiba with our friends peter, al and norman. they said they could see lots of tarpon along the beach. chicho said they had a few bites and then hooked on on a small jig. after more than three hours, they had it to the boat and had the leader several times, but then the hook straitend out! chicho said it was bigger than 150#. we did get a foto though.

It is so weird to hear you talk about tarpon on the Pacific coast of Panama. I wonder if they will out compete the black snook in the lagoons after several more years... There has to be some impact from their invasion.

You will be surprise the amount of Tarpon you can catch inside the Panama canal and it is fresh water

Freshwater doesn't surprise me at all. I am just surprised they seem to be apparently establishing a reproductive population on the Pacific side.
