My friend chartered a big 130' mothership out of Mag Bay in early Dec and they ventured out to lower banks where long range boats fished cows.
Some of their panga approached very closely to some long range boats.
Surprisingly most long range boats welcome them . My friend said one boat let them fish the area while throwing live bait for more chumming for them and left to find another spot. What a nice guesture by a long range boat. They didn't do well as wether was iffy for two days and stayed near Mag Bay for the rest of the trip. They say bottom fishing was so and so, but yellowtail fishing was phenominal with big ones averaging 30 - 60 lbs.
If big cow move into lower bank again next year, I am going to visit Mag Bay for huge yellowtail and cow.

Another thing to consider is fishing Mag Bay in March when the bluefin hit the area and begin their migration north along the baja coast. Mag Bay is where they show first and they are not quite as skiddish as they get once the purse sieners start working them.

I was fishing PV last october and the skipper who captained the boat I was on said they dont want the LR boats in PV and have gone so far as to disrupt the fishing to try and keep the LR boats out of PV.

Just another reason not to spend money there.
