need some input.......

what is a 'reasonable price' y'all would expect to have to pay for a 140 mile run to a (good) rig for a single overnight trip on a boat that would be capable of carrying 20 anglers max?

Okay,........ the reason i asked is because the Murphys on SPI have completely rebuilt the Thunderbird

they tore it down to the hull for a complete re-build and new engines.....
the words i was told today is that, "it was awesome"

(i've also been told that 'Murphy-speak' is taboo on the 2Cool board.... hope it isn't like that here)

anyway, friends have been talking to'em about maybe doing some overnighters out to the Clyde Beaudreaux and have already asked me if i might be interested in something in March......... i said prolly not because i don't figger i'll get down there 'til sometime after April 15th

the only reason y'all haven't seen me on any of y'all's tuna trips is because i have a sportfisher docked in PI and can't really justify traveling to fish somewhere else (i have a 2nd home there too and spend most all o'spring and summer there chasing marlin and other big-game on the boat)

i was thinking this sorta thing might be a nice change from me having to be the captain every time i go out on my own boat

from what i understand, i heard one o'my friends may have already been in touch w/McGolfer........... dunno for sure, but i thot i'd go ahead post this to see if there might be any interest in fishing outta SPI

so basically the murphys haven't ever done sumpin like this from what i understand and don't think they even know what to charge at this point (from what i'm hearing)....... all i've heard for sure is they'd need about 20 people with their own gear to consider it

i haven't fished any overnighters in yeeeeeeaaaaarrrrrsssss (back before big spinners, spectre, and high lever-drag settings ever hit the market) but lately i just can't seem to make it thru the winter without a bluewater injection between trips to my 2nd home and boat........ i live in Louisiana so next winter i might be asking to get in on some o'yall's organized trips to venice or the area if that's okay (that's close enough to home for me to do anytime)

any interest here in sumpin like that?.... (the SPI Murphy thingy)

also, during spring and summer, if there were to be any straglers there with time-on-their-hands before or after a trip maybe we could go chase down a few bills, wahoo, dorado, and tuna on my boat while you're there

[btw,fwiw,..... SPI's closer to that rig than anywhere else on the Texas coast]

there no info yet that i'm aware of.......
all in the talking stage from what i'm hearing

and the last time 'I' saw the boat it was just a hull in dry-dock (even the transom had been removed)

i also heard they used lightweight carbon fiber everywhere they could insteada fiberglass

there mught still be old pics o'that boat on the murphy's web-site
(they might've even updated the web-site for all i'd know)

Hey BF!

Thanks for posting this info!

As it's available, please post any kind of info for the boat as it might be a potential GEM platform (just speculating).

Though the owner/crew may be "newbies" to overnighters, that they have refigured the boat to focus on overnight/multi-day charters indicates to me that they have potential!

their web site still won't come up for me......http://captmurphys.com/index.html
(maybe they're updating the site)

i can't say that they've "refigured the boat to focus on overnight/multi-day charters" but i feel sure it still has the potential or my friends wouldn't be bugging'em........

i might turn out to be just a pipe-dream but it's been sounding interesting to ME so far.......... especially since i was asked about trying to go as-early-as March this year

whether it's something that's gonna turn into regularly scheduled trips, or only when a group approaches'em,.... remains-to-be-seen

i'll keep hammerin' away at it to see if i can find out more........

in-the-meantime, i'll see if i can get some o'those closer to the action to join here and post up what they know
