Caught this bad boy on my last Pelican trip. Going out again Saturday and hope to get some trolling in this time and break in some new equipment. Caught this on my 665 2spd on a tuna max rod. I love that setup, It's my go to setup.

nice amberjack. i don't have a 665 2 speed as of this time but i have been handling them on the oti rod and a 870 2 speed. we are going out this week end. good luck to you....rick

excellent!! I have yet to catch an AJ on a jig!! Watch those gill plates when holding em up like that.. had a nasty slice from one. Watch the deckies, and they will grab em at the throat(that chunk between the gills on the bottom)... works good on grouper and snapper too.

This was on my charter from September 19th. Several others from here were on board. We did OK but not great. Blackfins were not to be found that day. Lots of Barracudas everywhere we stopped. Wayne got that AJ pictured and Richard C. got a good one too. Other than that we had several Ling, one of which was my 24 pounder. Good limits of Red Snapper and I got a Dog Snapper. Tom (DBG) was catching AJs and Cudas of various sizes from the bow with one sizeable one. Jerry (Snagged) spent most of his time undoing tangles with Jim on the stern ... ....Grrrr...Snagged again!
