Quick report for those interested in fishing......... Been a very busy spring so Wednesday was only my second trip out this season and only my second trip out in the new “ReelBigFish”. 4 of us arrived at the fishing spot at about 7:30am and dropped down for haddock. We were steadily hooked up all morning with very good sized haddock, tossing anything under 18” back in the drink. At 11am we had our limit of 60 nice haddock. Having our haddock limit, I decided to look around to see what else we could find. I hit another spot just 1 mile away and dropped. Another haddock on..... wham! Sharked on the way up! Within 20-30 seconds I broke off. Still a bit cold for most sharks except Porbeagles here, we decided to try for one, knowing they are very good eating. I set up a shark rod and rigged 400lb leader and single strand wire to an 18/0 circle hook. Threw on a dead haddock and motored back and dropped it deep. within 15min, we were tight. An hour+ fight ensued but a sharp harpoon from my buddy boat and a quick tail rope secured the catch. 96” est. 350+lb male Porbeagle Shark. Shark steaks for everyone!!!
