I was locked out from my other user name r.mccabe203 I just wanted to post some pics and a silly video concluding our last trip on 11/12/08 on the bank. We experienced an incredible topwater bite and it only got better as the day wore on. We went 4 for 7. Hooked 2 fish on spinning rods 2 on the flyrod and 3 on the troll. At the end of the day I shut the engine off and we drifted through an endless field of roving tuna. We landed a 56" on the spin, a 58" on the fly released. two fish trolling in the 55"-60" range released boatside. The wind was 0kt. It was epic
What is the weight of the fly rod and the size of leader material you was using? I used a 14wt rod on an penn international 4 spooled with 80lb power pro backing bimini looped to 14wt intermediate tip flyline that has a 60lb core and a straight 8ft 60lb flouro leader. The fish took a 6" mushmouth. I landed the fish in under 20 minutes and estimate it to weigh 110lbs

What brand 14wt rod do you used and what length ? I have 2.5G and 4G never seen the water, I will try it someday.
That is awesome catch. You might be very skillful flyfisherman to land the fish so quick. I took same amount of time to land 10 lbs sockeye with a flyrod.

Hi fred I wanted to spool the reel with 65lb pp which would have given me 500yds and plenty of room for the flyline. John talked me into 80lb and the reel took around 400yds and with the flyline the reel was filled. I used an Orvis power matrix 8'6" rod.
