Yes, that is the way the picture is naturally oriented, as the rod was laying against a rack
Also, jigging did originate from Asia. That is part of the reason why some people call it "Asian Jigging" or "Japanese Jigging"
Even most multinational companies (Shimano and Daiwa) had established jigging products in Asia, before bringing it over to the U.S.

Jigs coming originally from Scandinavia Nordic guys where using them for cod and halibut centuries before daiwa or shimano start made them

when Japanese fishermen introduced assist hooks attached to the top of jigs, it made me think.
In fact, we used assist hook on top of a jig for cod jigging for decades before Japanese fishermen did.
