I just purchased two new outfits. I have a Daiwa Saltist 50H loaded with 410 yds of 100 lb spectra, seated on a 5'8" Hopper Rod rated to 200 lbs. Very light weight and well ballanced. The other is for surface popping. It's a Daiwa Saltiga Surf 6000 loaded with 400+ yards of 65 lb spectra, seated on an FTU 6'6" spinner rated to 100 lbs.

I have cranked down the Saltist 50 H, and true to their specs can only get about 20-22 lbs of drag. I think I had once heard that the drag system (maybe even just the plates) could be be easily changed to give almost 30 lbs of drag.

Here in the Gulf, I have some holes that contain fish I couldn't turn with an Shimano 50W, but I want little more stopping power out of my deep jigger.

    Any suggestions.

    Best of luck to all.

    Tom
