    This is an ignorant question....
I know nothing of cal's blueprinting or 2 speeding.

    How do you switch gears?

    You machine new ones...

    Conversions Info

I have fished several of Penns that have been 2 speeded and blueprinted by Cal Sheets. They are nice.

The price is outrageous too on the 12LT. I would put that puppy on fleabay myself... and expect it to bring more than that.

Just for information sake, $300.00 for a Cal'd 12 two speed is a smokin deal. You probably can have these upgraded to a 80+ pound for the 12 or 100+ pound for the 30 from Cal for a minimual amount of dinero. I have two super 12's from Cal and they are unreal especially with a Baker open top frame and Baja special handle. I know folks who have 7 of the 12 size and paid a heck of a lot more.

to be honest i like the old style of shifting better than the push button. ive had the push button not "take" and it can be a nuisance. or, the button knob comes off, blah blah. this isnt as quick but IMO its pretty bullet proof.

    knock on wood....:p

I love this type of shifter too. My last one was topless with an area rule articulated handle filled with Jerry Brown spectra. I tried to make a long cast into a weedline we were drifting close by. Instead, I made a backlash that jerked the rod outta my hands and into the water. I chose to wave good bye instead of man over board...
Lots of lessons learned that day about casting 5 oz jigs n such.
I got a Stella for casting and still miss that 12LT for jigging..

Somebody needs the 30. It is a steal and very capable compared to what is available new today...
