Good morning everyone; I would like to introduce myself..My name is jim Wheatley and i live in Oklahoma city oklahoma. I am a police officer there with 16 years on the department. Before that i spent 20 years in the marine corps serving our fine country and retired in 1990. I am a die hard addic to blue water fishing. my guess like everyone else on this board. i fish out of freeport texas everytime the weather, health or the job allows. i am looking forward to having a great time here trading experences and small exaggerations on the size of our catches. tight lines ...jim

What is cruise and what kind of mpg are you getting?

Good Morning Pope; The re-power seemed to work out great she is running very strong. This last trip was so rough that i was unable to get any average performance information at all. we fought the seas all the way to Boom Vang and back. Tenacious spent half her time buried in a wave. It was by far the wettest trip i have ever been on. 50% boat 50% submarine:eek: !! The engine i replaced was a volvo 5.7 throttle body fuel injected and listed 260 hp. I replaced it with a 5.7 ltr port injected 360 hp. the old engine cruised at 23-25 at 3000 rpms and got 2.5-3.0 MPG average. On this trip i got 1.30 mpg:( !!!! not good at all. I burned 164 gal boomvang and back and usually burn just under 100 gallons loaded heavy. to give some kind of idea how bad the seas were ....out bound to boomvang 3000 rpm would only get us 12-15 kts and most of the time the boat was fighting to regain 3000 from bogging down after crashing a wave. Like i said earlier the wettest trip i have ever been on.
I am looking forward to the next trip so i can get some good information on what she will do under average to good conditions. i now know what she will do in bad conditions:rolleyes:
