Wished i lived over there or you bring the boat over here. 22 knts are what dreams are made of. All our cheap boats go slower and slower. 10 knts is the norm. I would love to see you guys come over here and mix things up. I gots plenty of numbers for ya but just not much in the way of tuna.
We have to run a LONG ways here. How far do you guys fish on a 12 hour?

[/QUOTEWhen red snaps are open we run around 48 to 60 miles in 95 to 140 ft. We take the smaller Double eagle 2 that they will run around 17 knts. They just put new Cummins 6 bangers in that boat about 3 years ago to replace the old and worn out 12v71's. Boat will do 24knt but they never run it that fast. Most times by the first stop you have your limit in red snaps in less than 10 mins.

They are running some 14 hour trips for $175 a head and that includes live bait. The 14 hour this weekend is sold out and this is the last chance to keep gags until next Sept. They plan to run more 14 hour trips since they are selling out. Red grouper and lane snapper open in Jan. I guess you are running 150 miles and gotta make the speed.

Back in the day the party boats had speed wars here. All would claim the largest and fastest.
Hey guys, our first couple trips in January have a lot of openings. If it’s anything like last year early January should be good. Our first two trips of 2022 had a combined total of over 100 YFT.
Just bought mine and DaleR tix for Jan 5th. Hoping to get on the good yft bite. Looks like big waves for Jan 3rd trip as of right now. I hope it calms down for yall.
@Capt.matt How does the weather look so far for the trips next week?
Come on folks let's go tuna fishing!!!!

We're signed up for the Jan 5/6 and it looks kinda on the light side. Not sure if it's even enough to make yet🤔

Capt. Matt what's the min# to sail? Seems like I remember you saying 30? But not for sure.

Campier, there are some good offshore weather apps you can download. One of the best free version's that gives a wealth of information is

Predictwind.com

You can customize the free version also....

There are quite a few to choose from at Google play store. Usually keep several apps and watch and compare info between them. They will give you a idea of what is happening out there at the minute and going forward.
Looks like it may rain for my 14 hour trip. Going around 55 miles offshore. Gonna have to weed thru red snaps to get a gag or mangrove snapper.
The weather for the 3rd isn’t looking good. If your on Tuesdays trip you might want to start thinking about jumping on Thursday’s when the call is made. The final decision will be made Monday AM but if the forecast holds it will cancel. Thursday’s weather is looking much better as of now.

It sucked Sat on the 14 hour trip. Sea fog and rain all day and we died on the vine. Had to move back inside 80ft to get some grunts. No more gags until Sept now.
