The Beeliners bit really well for us on the way out with a lot of the fishermen picking up their double limit. We landed a decent number of Scamps and a hand full of AJs also but for the most part the AmberJack fishing has been off the past few weeks.
Tuna fishing continues to be good. We picked at them all night. It was a steady bite, we picked up 1-3 yellows on every drift, about half of them came off chunks with the rest coming off either Halcos or Yumees and Frenzy’s.
    Totals...
    50 YFT
    55 BFT
    528 Beeliners
    1 BlackJack
    6 AmberJack
    5 AlmacoJack
    7 Scamp
    1 Knobbed Porgy

Hi, Capn Matt! Always enjoy your timely and detailed reports, and especially the pix. I'm stuck at home and have not been offshore with GPB since Feb 8, the longest dry spell in 10+ years. And I know several other anglers in the same boat. (Actually, we're not in the boat and that's the big problem.) Keep catching and posting, so we can at least fish vicariously. Looking forward to your 30 hr August trips, will sign up as soon as y'all schedule, and hope I can make 'em.

Was great time and always a pleasure to visit with you Matt. You have done a hell of Job with the GBP. Your hard work and dedication has made it the best party boat on the Texas coast. Ready to book another couple trips in the Fall.

They may be caught as bycatch, but you can’t target them. Once you identify them, you can’t cast to them. Plus it would be insta spool on just about any gear most folks have on these trips.

We had a great time. 4 Yellowfins on chunk, plenty of others to keep us entertained. Red Snapper were out if season, but we will be back on June 18 to catch them. Thanks again.

The Beeliner fishing was still really good. They bit like crazy early on in the day and slowed down the later it got. We picked up a few Scamps and a handful of AJs.
Tuna fishing started out pretty good, picking up atleast one YFT every drift but that all changed at 11:30. The bite just stopped. That’s about the time the wind really started blowing hard, 20 knots sustained gusting up to 25. We made a short run to another floater and it was completely dead. Finally at around 4 am we reached our third floater of the night and picked up some stud Blackfin and around a dozen more YFT. We ended the trip with a decent catch but we had to really work for it this time. I have been spoiled with how good the fishing has been and this trip was a jolt back to reality.
    Totals....
    21 YFT
    89 BFT
    427 Beeliners
    5 AJ
    4 AlmacoJack
    4 Scamp

That would probably be a record catch on other party boats! Way to stick with it and always appreciate the honest reports.

Yeah, remember when a YFT catch number in the 20s was great. Matt and his crew have gotten so good at it, we have all been spoiled!

We wrapped up our spring season yesterday with another good trip.
The bottom fishing on the way out was a little difficult, the fish were definitely there and were hungry but the current made fishing without getting tangled a challenge. When the current is running hard like that it can make it hard to feel your bites and I think that is what was happening to some of our fishermen.
I decided to make the long run out east to Magnolia for this trip although fishing down south has been great for us over the past month, we really had to work for them on the last trip and it seemed like a lot of the fish had left that area. It was a decision that turned out to be the right one. At sunset it went off and I think we boated 8 YFT right away. It slowed down a few drifts later and we bounced back and forth between Magnolia and a nearby drill ship for the rest of the night sporadically catching YFT and stud BFT, some of the biggest Blackfin we have seen at the floaters.
    Trip totals...
    32 YFT
    114 BFT
    215 Beeliners
    6 Amberjack
    5 AlmacoJack
    3 African Pomoano

We had a great 19-20 season. In 13 trips since January 1 we landed 660 YFT and over 1,100 going back to October. The past 7 months have been the best tuna fishing I have personally ever seen and I hope that’s a good sign for things to come.
I hope to have our fall season out by mid to late June.

It was a great trip. I would’ve loved to see that last fish that pulled the hook. Captain Matt definitely put us on the fish. That first hookup at the drill ship had the fisherman and deckhands scrambling for sure. I think there were 10 plus anglers hooked up on YFT at the same time. It’ll be booking many more trips in the future.

I went on my very first tuna trip with GPB in Texas on Feb. That was the best fishing trip I ever had. I landed 11 BFT and 2 YFT. Deckhands were extremely helpful. Now ,I'm waiting everyday for the Fall trips schedule to come up so I can book a few more trips.

I’m glad you had a good time fishing with us! I turned in the dates to the office and am just waiting on the approval. I’m shooting for 27 trips this fall.
