Good luck all! Maybe the wind will stir up the tuna!

IMG_0502.JPG IMG_0503.JPG IMG_0504.JPG IMG_0506.JPG This trip was a little on the tough side. We didn't have much time to bottom fish due to the time change and long boat ride, we really only had an hour and a half to spare. We did two spots in 160 ft and did well on some pretty fat beeliners but not much to go with them.
We made the run back out to Auger and it started good, by 9:00 we had 6 YFT and 1 Big Eye in the boat. Things slowed down around then. We still had yellows around the boat but we couldn't get them to bite and the BFT were non existent. We sat on the fish at Auger until 1:30 hoping they would start eating but after 5 drifts without landing a tuna of any kind I felt like we had to do something.
We ran 30 miles East to Baldpate and arrived just after 3am to a red hot Blackfin bite which is something I have not seen in a while. There were big flyers everywhere but we never did see a yellow there but I feel like we salvaged the night by catching 160 of our Blackfin in a pretty short amount of time.
    Totals...
    6 Yellowfin
    1 Bigeye
    1 Skipjack
    180 Blackfin
    250 Vermilion Snapper
    5 Scamp
    2 Rockhind

Wow Matt, I am constantly amazed at the efforts you go to in order to catch fish for the boat. I try to go quarterly with you guys but have missed a trip due to a Venice trip and will miss next quarter due to a bluefin trip but look forward to fishing with you again! With the seating/ bunk changes and the extended range you guys have really made a difference in long range opportunities!

How does it look so far for the 11/18-11/19 trip. A lot of fronts coming through.

    Day0ne,
Due to the coming cold front, it gonna be rough on Saturday night which is our main event. Called in the office and they said they will make a decision today. They might cancel the trip though.

Saturday night is going to be terrible. I'm trying to talk the boss man into changing the trip to a Friday-Saturday instead, but there is no way we are leaving on Saturday unless the front slows way down.

No problem for me. Friday-Saturday trip is better. Less miserable and better chance to catch fish. Let's call sick on Friday guys.
