Last weekend I put out a couple of I-40s at two spots on my small Young County lease. One is this feeder pen, another is a food plot that was just planted. Does have shown up at the food plot (and tons of turkeys).

So far only one buck has shown - I hope he isn't the only one. He shows up on the camera every night and so far only him.

He isn't a bad one - nice tine length except on the brows, perfect symetry even on the brows - they each angle away, I kinda like it.

I don't know much about deer age and scoring, but enough to know he probably isn't mature yet - however I hunt a 100 acre low fence place with management only as good as the land around it, so unless I were to see something bigger during the rut he'd probably be on my wall if he showed up during the day in season (besides, he's better than anything I ever took around Victoria growing up).

So far he shows up only at night - and every single night.

Earl, that looks like a 2.5 maybe 3.5 yr old deer.. He would be a great first buck for one of your boys..... Thats a pretty decent deer for the area you are in. The deer are feeding at night and not hitting the corn/mineral much.. the acorns are starting to drop pretty heavy over on our place.
I hope you get some more on camera...

Yeah I'll be checking my camera every weekend or so. Also reading what others have said I may investigate putting a cheaper trail came or two by some oak stands. If I find they are hitting the acorns and not the corn right now I could allways throw down a ground blind.

The tower blind that sits by this feeder pen oversees a pretty big area so it is entirely feasible to see deer from it that never go to corn. In fact the landowner has told me most of the bucks he's taken from it were not heading to the feeder pen but transiting through.

He would be a nice first deer, hell I've never even shot one as good as he is

He's definitely better than your average Victoria/Yorktown deer from a few years ago when I last hunted.

This year is exceptional for horn growth. With all they have to eat, they might not be back at the feeders until all the acorns are gone.. In three settings I only saw two deer come by and eat corn. I saw another 6-8 deer milling around eating acorns and past up the corn and deer blocks..I have an extra pop up blind if you need to borrow one.

I have one allready, thanks. My problem is getting out there in enough time to do some scouting and looking around My boys have too may ball games and scout activities

Hey Bret, what do you think he scores - would he make the 120's with the rack being outside the ears, tine length (except on the brows), and length and curve on his beams?
