Ok my first impression
Mechanical 8.5-9.5/10
Cosmetic 7/10
Drag 10/10
Overall 8.5/10
Crank tight but smooth, very solid reel few cosmetic imperfection but I can live with (for example my first 30000 Stella never left closet till I sold it, and it was garbage)
Drag I know going to love for sharkfishing that I'm 100% positive I fell in love in lever drag kind of drag because with my big Stella's or saltiga I have to tighten down for 30 sekunds one's I reached from zero drag to 30 lbs, here in makaira takes one click less than blinked of eye, if reel is really water proof in 70% as my VS 275 I would love it.Going test next couple weeks and let u know guys.
One minus rotor ballance when u crank is wobbling but I wait for line and check during fight, because my 20000 Stella with yumeya bailless kit had same problem after spooling with line and under pressure I can't feel it

Would you say it's more of a surf or land base fishing vs a jigging reel ?
How heavy is that thing ?

Thank you for posting

Its definitely offshore reel but can be use on surf I going personally use as shark reel since 30 k Stella doesn't has enough drag. 20000 would be great tuna reel as well 30000 when fish busting bait on top. Weight I'll weight tomorrow and let u know. Because high gear ratio I would not use for jigging

Keep in mind this recent update from our friend Alan Hawk:

(4 March 2017) My Makairas are here, and they made significant changes from the show pieces. I have more than 200 fishing hours planned and the review's ETA is early May. A word of caution; the production 20K and 30K reels have black spool lips and enlarged drag knobs (the round centre knob) with sun-burst lines around it. Don't buy one with a silver lip even if someone puts it in a box because these are the pre-production samples which I saw being sold and auctioned. Early 30K prototypes had black lips too but those had no text on the spool and silver body inserts so you can easily tell them. Most shops/sellers are using the old pictures with the silver lip which is fine, just check the actual 20K and 30K you receive to make sure it has a black spool lip.

After few fishes landed (not monsters unfortunately) I can tell little more: drag works like champ, I love drag preset future, super fast reel perfect for fishing for fast pelagic in fast current, very easy reel to maintenance and fund out after I put my own mixture of grease, gears feeling almost disappear, going fishing tomorrow all day long hopefully land same size fish after I decided my 30000 Stella isn't enough. I thinking about to sell my 30K Stella and buy makaira 20000, guys do you have experience with okuma service?

I had great experience with Okuma service. They will take care of you. I sent them a 10 year old reel to get a handle installed. New handle, new gears, new bearings and a new spool. Cost was $0.00

Okuma service is great. The employees are always willing to do what they can to assist you. It is never difficult to talk to a real person either.

Okuma customer service is one of the best in the industry. When I was working at a fishing store their representative would tell us to replace reels/ rods no question asked if the customer had receipt and merchandise was in the warranty period.

I just bought a makaira 10000.... feels sweet. I never had a stella or saltiga spinner to compare but after reading the alan hawk review and the numerous praises on okuma's and their service im glad I went this route. Saved some money from buying the stella also.... I figured the 20k was a bit big for the NE so ill try this size. Wanted something a little faster but will see. I have a nice garone popping/stickbait rod i plan on matching it with. next to decide what to spool it with
