Last year I made my first trip out of Galveston on a party boat on an overnight tuna trip. I noticed everyone was throwing Halco Max or similar lures for yellowfin and luminous jigs for blackfin. I didn't see anyone using luminous baits for yellowfin. I'm curious, why not? Seems like a luminous bait at night would stand out a little easier for the tuna to see.

in my experience you'll catch way more blackfin than yellowfin jigging. A glow jig helps for blackfin but most of the yellowfin tuna I've seen come from chunking, casting swim baits/poppers in the Gulf of Mexico off of the TX coast

What about using a glow swim bait/popper? I haven't seen any for sale but have used a luminous tape on lures for other species.
