this show about how they hunt down the schools of GIANT YFT spottin em from an airplane, then the boats move in and net the entire school of these 100+lb yft. Then these divers jump in and let all the big GREAT WHITES out. Then they tow the thing in.

I thought it was cool:D

Actually if its about the tuna cowboys it was about blue fin. Showed how they have to mend the net, didnt see great whites, but they get makos, blue?,and couple other varieties in the pin, they have to pull them out. Pretty enteresting, they take them to a "farm" and fatten them up to the 55-60lb range, and they said in taiwan they bring in 4-5k a fish.

I hate to see them towing those pens full of tuna north to Coronado. Sickening sight!

Pope this year the commercial tuna fishing in the lower latitudes was very poor and a lot of the seiner fleet ended up here off the cost of San Diego. The number of pens and seiners that we saw was unbelievable must have been hundreds of them.
The results was that we had a very poor year for all three species of tuna that we generally get here, Albacore, Bluefin and Yellowfin. What we did ended up with this year was a good run on the Dorado and Yellow tail.
