Looking for 1 crew for over night trip to Boomvang and Nancen area. 28ft Kevlar Cat, with twin 225 Honda, leaving from Freeport, TX. Thanks for those who reply this post, the spot has been filled by Grescobia.
my boat john and its me tj and a offshore rookie. leaving on friday morning around 10 and coming in on saturday around noon or so.....rick
we fished nancen sat nite. we caught 4 yft (50 - 60 lbs) on chunks. lots of blackfins, blue runners & cuda messing up the bite. bring lots of top waters with blue & silver (the smaller & noisier ones were best), flying fish were everywhere. we caught one smaller (20lb) yft on a flying fish which became lunch on the way back .. we had a 12" squid jumped into the boat then proceeded to ink us. i lost 2 poppers & 3 jigs to cudas. also lost a jig to an unknown fish that spooled my avet lx sat morning while jigging aj's (175 ft water). i lock the drag, thumb the spool and wore off my thumb prints without turning it. made it back just as the seas were turning ugly from eduard. good luck & stay safe
I will post up a pictures this evening. we caught 3 yft at Boomvang, one decent size yft to about 90-100lb, the other two about 40-50lb. One bull Dolphin caught on popper about 25-30lb, few black fin, on snowy grouper about 20lb, one rainbow runner about 6-8lb, 1 AJ about 40lb. Boomvang and Nancen were parking lot, more than 18 boats were at that two rigs.
Minnow is one hard working dude That is a major understatement. You and McGolfer are fishing machines yourselves! It must have been a slow pick bite with that many boats. Sounds like a great effort to box those fish.
it was very neat seeing shark, mcgolfer, and minnows on the big e trip working thier magic. these guys were machines at the rail! they never stopped ripping those jigs! i was worn OUT! and they put me to shame... they made me feel OLD!
