I know some of yall on this board own one, and I was looking for some info.
I have nearly finalized a deal with my parents that IF I get all A's I can get a black lab. I mainly just want it to be my dog that goes wherever I go, but on the occasion I do dove hunt so I would also want it to just know how to retrieve.
My mom is asking me all these questions, and I just wanted to know how yall faired with the puppy stages. First of yall, did yalls labs dig holes and chew on patio stuff? If not how did you do it? How much exercise and work do they need? We have a pretty good sized yard with pool now, but now my mom says what if we move. So do they need to be walked 405505miles a day
?
And lastly, how much training would she need to just be able to retrieve dove and ducks? How do I make them not skittish to shooting?
I was thinking just to teach her sit stay down, heel, and retrieve, an obviously her name. Also I understand she would need to be walked and stuff, I just wanted an idea from actually owners as to how much? I usually run a mile or 2 a day sooo is that OK?
Thanks ALOT, shes still skeptical, but Im workin
Kevin
ps- did you have to work your dog so she could be walked in a park or somewhere with out a leash, or did she just kinda know that?
