I'm in the market to build some assist hooks...quick!

I stopped by the Eagle Claw outlet store and found some bulk Lazer Sharps for 75% off. Score!

9/0 "Offshore Tuna-L113MG" on the left for rigging stick baits (a la Nomad); 4/0 "Live Bait Magnum" on the right for jigging (a la Gman).

Will the 500# work with both these hooks? Or, should I step down with the smaller hook?

Any photos of rigged hooks yet?

4/0 with 500# gman style; 9/0 with 700# double-walled, serve and shrink. Knot and serve superglued.

Dan

You should put the assist cord thru the eye from the other way. It will work better for you. It puts the point in a better angle to hook the fish

Dan,

build your assist to the length jig you are using, usualy 1/3 the length of jig. For long jigs (a.j.s) try the seriola, available inbarb or outbarb.

here is the 14" nagamasa with appropriate assist.
