Jerk That Jig

Does anyone use the jig "Jerk That Jig"? I started using that jig and started losing fish. What I found was that the welded ring that held the hook was breaking. Also, if you get a chance, cut back the plastic at the hook and look at the knot. You will laugh when you see a single overhand knot. That is why most people who use those jigs are loosing fish. I suggest you change the ring and lines to the hook if you are going to use them. The jigs work but they are made to release the fish for you.

No doubt the jerk that jigs catch fish but yeah, you absolutely need to change the hardware on them out for bigger fish. Saw them fail on bluefins which was not surprising in the least. If you targeting anything bigger than striped bass I'd add all new hardware, but for the price they're a great jig.
I wish the jig discounters would have unrigged prices or an upgraded rigging option. No sense buying the junk hardware.
Yeah, definitely change out the hardware. In regards to the knot used...an overhand knot is used on a lot of assist hooks. I make mine using an overhand knot like gman suggested and haven't had any issues.

The new ones that just came out from jerk that jig has a owners style solid ring and they how have mustad assist hooks. They went up .25 cents a jig but still a great price for jigs.

I would still prefer to save my money and get them unrigged. The only ones I fish out of the pack are OTI and Eastern Tackle. The rest either don't come with hardware or I think it needs to be upgraded.

I do upgrade my hardware. owner hyperwire split rings and solid rings.

I & most jigger I fish with take the factory supplied assist hooks & split rings off new jigs because they are not reliable enough for that one really strong fish. I buy specific hooks, solids & split rings & construct my own assists.
At least then if that component fails you only got yourself to blame.
