What size hooks for jackfin pelagus 165 and 90?
the jackfin website shows specifically the hook sizes, also the back of the box will have it too.
- two hooks #6/0
- (belly) treble hook ST-66 #2/0; (tail) single hook #6/0
- two treble hooks ST-66 #2/0
- single hook 6/0 on belly
- two treble hooks #4
I used 5/0 or 7/0 BKK hooks, couldn't find 6/0 hooks.
If possible, stay away from the treble hooks and go with inline hooks.
pelagus is an Italian bait designed for tuna fishing in the Mediterranean that works very well in all the seas of the world.
The video explains how to choose and mount hooks and how the different combinations influence the swimming of the bait.
Thank you for posting the video. Have a trip line up in September and I would like to try the Pelagus! Could you recommend store where to get a couple. thanks.
Thank you very much.
What features in the design of this stick-bait are specific for Bluefin Tuna? Do you think BKK Lone Diablo in-line 9/0 or, 11/0 will work ok?
Pelagus 165-S is a sinking stick-bait specifically designed for Bluefin Tuna fishing, but will catch Yellowfin and Blackfin also.
manu, I use 5/0 BKK on the Pelagus 165-S. I think 9/0 or 11/0 would be too big.
You are right, too big. I have 2 packs of BKK 5/0. Thank you Joda.
Is it coincidence that all the pictures of the Pelagus 165 I see the lure is still pristine? Did anyone have success with them? Couldn’t get a bite on mine yet
Hope not haha, I just got them, haven’t use them yet.
Any suggestion on color. Couple of years ago I got the Maguroni from OTI in Blue Flyer and Green Mackerel and for 3 straight days they couldn't resist the Blue. Who knows! Once the owner of an old tackle shop told me, do you know what color they are biting today? ...the one you don't have.
